The World's Most Sustainable Task Chair

Stay healthy (and comfortable) while
keeping the planet healthy

The Chair for Every Body

Designed to adjust to your body as if it were made for you.

Patented Technology

Each Path contains a patented Gravity Mechanism that uses bodyweight rather than bulky controls. As you sit, the mechanism engages. When you recline, it gently lifts, so your body becomes the natural counterbalance, and is firmly supported wherever it stops. This creates virtual pivot points that allow Path to move with you in complete harmony.

FormSense Eco Knit

Equally as innovative as Path's design is its FormSense Eco Knit, a mesh-like textile made from upcycled plastic bottles that conforms to the body, providing self-adjusted lumbar support and a tailored fit to every user, regardless of height or weight.

A New Path Forward

Path represents a new generation of chairs, upcycling more plastic waste than any other chair in the industry. It's also our 26th climate positive product, giving back more to the planet than it takes each time it's made. No other company matches us in environmental stewardship. We have certifications across areas like: Healthy Materials, Material Transparency, Level® Certification and Sustainable Operations, to name a few.

Arm Support That Moves With You

Just like the human body, Path's arms are attached to its back, which allows for a more natural and supportive sitting experience.

Built to Last

Our exhaustive testing ensures that Path looks and feels like new after more than a decade of heavy use - while retaining perfect function.

9.49lbs of Ocean Plastic

By removing and upcycling harmful fishing nets and other ocean plastic, Humanscale helps restore delicate ecosystems.

Clean Gas Cylinder

Our cylinders are cleaner and more reliable than conventional cylinders. Unlike other chairs, our patented design seals grease in the lower unit to protect both user and chair.

The Design Story

Carefully considered.

Designed by Todd Bracher.

"Path is not simply an exercise in aesthetics or an assembly of pre-existing components, rather it is ground up mechanical invention, material innovation, coupled with next-level sustainability."

“A Chair for Your Desk That's Kind To the Earth”

“The Path task chair earns high marks for its minimal ecological impact. It's also just a comfortable chair, with Humanscale's ergonomic reclining mechanism on the back and a smoothly supportive cylinder beneath the seat.”

“Might Be the Best Chair You Can Buy”

“Path adapts to both to conscious decisions to sit up or sit back while also capable of adapting to the numerous minute unconscious adjustments we make to our posture throughout the day.”

9.49lbs

Ocean Plastic

Each Path chair is made using a total of 9.49lbs of ocean plastic with 6.24lbs coming from upcycled fishing nets, the most harmful type of ocean plastic. The other 3.25lbs are made from recycled yogurt cups that are collected within 50km of coastlines, thus preventing potential damage to our oceans and their delicate ecosystems.

68

Plastic Water Bottles

Exclusively made for Path, our FormSense Eco KnitTM is a 3D knit textile. Its recycled yarn is made of approximately 68 plastic bottles per chair. The 3D knitting process that provides the double benefit of top level performance while also resulting in Zero Waste.

53%

Recycled Content

Comprised of ocean plastic, post-consumer plastic bottles, and post-industrial material, Path's recycled content makes up over half of its material composition and weight.
