Matériaux et durabilité

  • Product Materials

Liberty is constructed using die-cast aluminum, steel, engineered polymers, contoured seat cushion, multi-layer Duron arm pads, and upholstery textile. Die-cast aluminum and steel form the structural frame and recline mechanism. Engineered polymers are used for components requiring flexibility and impact resistance. The back features patented Form Sensing tri-panel fabric that takes on the exact shape of the sitter's back, providing a personalized fit and maximum adaptability.

Design By Niels Diffrient (1928–2013)

Niels Diffrient was a pioneering industrial designer known for his human-centered approach and belief that design should be intuitive and effortless. Often called “the last of the mid-century modernists,” he focused on simplicity, allowing form to follow function in its purest sense. A Cranbrook Academy graduate alongside Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen, Diffrient went on to shape some of the most iconic products of the 20th century. His work at Henry Dreyfuss Associates helped define modern industrial design, while his research into human factors redefined how products support the body. His partnership with Humanscale introduced a new standard in seating, creating designs that automatically adapt to the user. Diffrient’s legacy lives on in products that are simple, timeless, and designed to improve the human experience.

    Very comfortable stool overall

Very comfortable stool overall. I use it with a sit-stand desk and switch positions constantly during the day. The back support is excellent, especially for a stool, though I did need a few days to get used to the seat firmness. The footrest ring is sturdy and doesn’t slip, which I appreciate.

    Bought this for my home

I bought this for my home studio where my work surface is taller than a standard desk. I didn’t want something bulky, and this looks clean and minimal. The fabric back feels supportive but softer than a plastic shell. I also like that the foot ring adjusts automatically with the height — I don’t have to fiddle with it.

    Use this stool at a

I use this stool at a standing-height reception counter and it’s been a lifesaver. I’m constantly hopping on and off throughout the day, and the footrest ring makes it easy to perch without feeling like I’m dangling. The fabric back has just enough flex to support me but doesn’t push me forward. I was worried it would feel unstable at full height, but it’s incredibly solid.

    We installed a few

We installed a few of these at our standing collaboration tables. People move around a lot, sit briefly, then stand again. The stool feels balanced and secure even at full height. No wobbling. The fabric back is surprisingly supportive for something that looks so streamlined. After a 2-hour session I wasn’t stiff at all.

    Work at a drafting

I work at a drafting table and spend long hours leaning forward over drawings. Most stools leave my lower back aching by mid-afternoon. This one doesn’t. The fabric back flexes just enough when I shift positions. The footrest circle feels stable and gives me somewhere natural to anchor my feet instead of letting them hang. Big improvement from my old stool.
