Design By Niels Diffrient (1928–2013)

Niels Diffrient was a pioneering industrial designer known for his human-centered approach and belief that design should be intuitive and effortless. Often called “the last of the mid-century modernists,” he focused on simplicity, allowing form to follow function in its purest sense. A Cranbrook Academy graduate alongside Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen, Diffrient went on to shape some of the most iconic products of the 20th century. His work at Henry Dreyfuss Associates helped define modern industrial design, while his research into human factors redefined how products support the body. His partnership with Humanscale introduced a new standard in seating, creating designs that automatically adapt to the user. Diffrient’s legacy lives on in products that are simple, timeless, and designed to improve the human experience.

    Love how easy it

Love how easy it is to wipe down the arm pads, they stay clean after long shifts. Took a couple days to get used to the recline, felt weird at first. Overall comfy and durable though

    Its okay

Its okay, the seat is a bit firmer than i like. Good for moving around but paperwork sessions are less comfy. Still a solid chair if you’re active at work

    Got this chair for our

Got this chair for our lab and honestly didnt think it would make much difference, but the recline just works automatically. I can lean back and move without adjusting anything. Only tiny thing is the footrest could be a bit smoother, otherwise really happy

    First day I thought

First day I thought the height was too much, but now it’s perfect. The gas cylinder keeps everything clean, no grease anywhere. Wish the footrest extended more for my height (5’10”) but otherwise solid

    Lotus textile is amazing

The Lotus textile is amazing, spilled coffee and it wiped right off. The recline feels natural, didnt expect that. Weird the first day but now i cant imagine using my old chair
